The Rescue Organisation Ireland committee and its members would like to extend our great sadness and shock at the tragedy of the crash of the coastgaurd Search and Rescue Helicopter 116 based in Dublin.

The Crew members, Captain Dara Fitzpatrick, Captain Mark Duffy, winchman Ciaran Smith and winchman Paul Ormsby were involved in a rescue mission of the Mayo coastline on Tuesday 14th March when their Helicopter crashed into the sea. Their many succesful rescues in the saving of lives will be remembered by those that benefitted from the crew risking themselves for the benefit of others. Our thoughts are with their families and colleagues at this very sad time.
